1.  Your Health is Your Life

Your Health is Your LifeThere is no getting around the fact that you have one body, and that body is the only one you are going to have.  So, you need to take care of it.  Your health will determine your quality of life, so you need to make taking care of your health a high priority.

There are simple choices you can make every day to ensure you level of health is good.  Say no to junk food and yes to healthy nutrition.  Regular exercise is a must for keeping your joints and muscles in good working order and keeping your weight within your ideal range.  Taking time to do the things you love will help you cope with stress and keep your life in balance.  It will also do wonders for your heart and blood pressure.

2.  Paying Cash is Preferable to Borrowing

Lending money is a business.  The person who profits is the one giving the credit – the lender.  Each time you choose to purchase something, and borrow to do so, you are agreeing to pay more for that item later.  This being the case, it is far better to pay save for what you want than to pay more for it through interest and loan charges.  That way you are putting more money into you own pocket rather than someone else’s.

3.  Give First

Give FirstThose who give generously also receive generously.  Unhappy people are those who expect to receive something for nothing. The universe operates on generosity.  When you give from what you have, instead of grumbling about what you do not have, you will open you life up to gifts from unexpected sources.  A generous heart is a happy heart.  Those who share what they have never lack the important things in life.

4.  Be Understanding Instead of Right

If you are a person who endeavors to understand others, you will have many friends.  Those who insist on being right, have far fewer friends.  If it is important to you to always win an argument, it would help you to consider whether this is really what matters most to you.  Love and friendships are of far greater worth than always being right.  At the end of your life, knowing that you loved and were loved in return will matter much more than how many arguments you won.

5.  Remember to Ask for What You Want

Ask for What you WantThese two things will keep you from achieving what you want in life: not knowing WHAT you want, or being too afraid to ASK for what you want.  It is amazing what can happen when you actually ask for what you want.  The worst that can happen is that you will be told “no”.  But, what if they said “yes”.  Those who practice asking for what they want, get it a lot more often than those who never ask.

6.  Make Fear Your Friend

Fear can be a huge motivator.  You will work much harder on being healthy if you are afraid of being in poor health.  If having to rely on a government pension upon retirement is something that scares you, you will be motivated to plan for your financial future.  If the thought of something is fearful to you, use that to get yourself moving on a plan to ensure you do not find yourself in that situation.  The only time fear becomes a problem, is if you allow it to stop you from doing something.

7.  Knowledge is Powerful, but only When You Use It

Knowledge is PowerfulThe power contained in your knowledge is only useful if you actually take action on it.  You can learn about a whole range of topics, but that knowledge is useless until you create with it.  Knowing how to do something does not help anyone unless you actually do the thing you know to do.  Then you become powerful.  Then you have leverage to create.

8.  Life has Seasons

As in nature, our lives have seasons.  There will be times of busyness and times of quiet.  Enjoy both.  Recharge your batteries when the opportunity arrives.   There will be seasons when life can be very difficult.  Always remember that, “this too shall pass”.  Times of lack and stress help us to savor the times of plenty and rest.  The ups and downs of life are normal.  Go with the flow.

9.  Marry Your Best Friend

As the years roll by, being married to your best friend becomes more and more important.  Good looks do fade, and romantic love changes into a much deeper kind of love.  Your best friend is someone you will want to stick with.

10.  Create Memories

Create MemoriesTake photos – display them and enjoy them.  Keep a journal of special thoughts.  Create occasions to remember.  They do not have to be grand functions, sometimes the simplest of outings can produce the fondest memories.

11.  Do What You Love

Doing work that you enjoy cannot be highly recommended enough.  Those who work at what they love, really do not see it as work at all.  Life passes very quickly.  Spend it doing what fulfills you.  Choose to be happy in your work.

12.  Choose Excellence

Choose ExcellenceDo not settle for less than you really want.  Have high expectations of yourself.  Do your best and expect the same from others. You will sometimes be disappointed, but you will be rewarded far more.  When you consistently operate at your highest standard you will achieve far more satisfaction in life.
